When Ilan launched as a direct-to-consumer brand, it wasn't following a trend. It was solving a specific problem: in a category nobody was watching, quality had nowhere to hide.

India's home décor supply chain has a particular flaw. Because most products pass through three or four commercial hands before reaching a customer, nobody along that chain has a strong reason to hold a quality line. The importer is watching margin. The distributor is watching volume. The retailer is watching shelf space. The product itself becomes incidental, a thing that moves or doesn't, not a thing that works or doesn't.

A brand that sells direct cannot hide behind a retailer when something is wrong. That accountability, uncomfortable as it is, is exactly what keeps the standard up.

India's artificial plant category is still being defined. Most customers haven't yet encountered the considered end of it. The brands that sell direct, and therefore own the entire experience from product to doorstep to follow-up, are the ones building lasting category reputation , not just moving units through whoever will stock them.
